Project Focus

What the system needed to do.

Make Discovery Useful

Connect the neighborhood's identity with businesses, events, and the information people need to plan a visit.

Keep Information Connected

Use shared business records and dated events to support a changing neighborhood without rebuilding its pages.

Support the People Publishing

Give the team clear editing fields, documentation, and guidance for the work that continues after launch.

Overview

The project in context.

Hingetown brings together independent businesses, arts, food, and neighborhood events in Cleveland's Ohio City. A visitor needs more than a description of the neighborhood: they need to find a place, understand what is happening, and work out where to go. PixelPrecision built the public experience and the publishing workflow together, so useful discovery does not depend on the team manually recreating the same information across the site.

Our role. We worked on both sides of the handoff: the directory, map, and event experience visitors use, and the fields and guidance the team uses to maintain it. The CMS documentation explains the real day-to-day tasks, from placing a business accurately on the map to publishing an event with a useful next step. Follow-up guidance addressed the editor's questions rather than assuming a finished website meant the team was ready to operate it.

The Challenge

What had to be untangled.

Neighborhood information changes: businesses open, hours shift, and events come and go. Visitors need reliable details across profiles, listings, and the map, while the team needs to publish updates without editing layouts or rebuilding sections. An attractive directory alone would not solve that ongoing maintenance problem.

The Solution

How the pieces connected.

We gave businesses and events their own structured records in WordPress. Business details support profiles, category browsing, and map placement; event dates control upcoming listings and removal from homepage carousels after the event passes. Reusable templates turn those records into the public experience, while a field-by-field CMS guide makes the publishing process explicit for the people responsible for it.

Our Process

The decisions behind the work.

01

Map the Visitor's Next Step

Connect browsing by interest with the practical details of a visit: what a place offers, where it is, and what is happening nearby.

02

Give Information a Shared Home

Store business and event details as reusable records so the directory, profiles, map, and homepage can draw on the same content foundation.

03

Make the Handoff Usable

Document required fields, image choices, location data, and event links, then support the team's real publishing questions.

The Connected Solution

How it works for the business.

A Clear Path from Interest to Visit

Visitors can browse categories, learn what a business offers, check its details, and continue to its website or directions. Discovery leads somewhere useful.

Business Information Connected to Place

The custom map draws on business records and categories, connecting location pins with profiles instead of becoming a separate directory to maintain.

Upcoming Events without Manual Cleanup

Event dates drive upcoming order and remove past events from homepage carousels. Ticket, RSVP, and calendar links give visitors a clear action when they find something of interest.

An Editing Workflow the Team Can Follow

Defined fields and a practical CMS guide separate routine updates from design changes. The team has a repeatable process for adding businesses and events, including the details that affect how they appear across the site.
